Ballybane Library will host a storytelling session to celebrate the creativity of local parents and grandparents

Ballybane Library

Wednesday 14th December, 10.30am

Ballybane Library will host a storytelling session to celebrate the creativity of local parents and grandparents. Co-ordinated by the Eastside Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) service, the group meets weekly in the library. Working with storyteller and author Rab Fulton, members of the group have created a Christmas Fairy Tale loosely based on the story of “Little Red Riding Hood”. “The Fairy Tale of Oscar" features a wolf, a granny, a young girl and a cottage in the woods.

This new fairy tale tells the story of Oscar, a child abandoned in a dark wood and living under a curse which turns him into a wolf when he is angry. As Oscar grows up, his anger and the effects of the curse grow more terrifying. Is there anyone who can save him?

Rab Fulton will be reading “The Fairy Tale of Oscar” and telling some seasonal stories. In addition, there will be refreshments and an opportunity to chat with the authors. See attached poster.

New public library in Ballinasloe

The new public library in Ballinasloe has been officially opened by Galway County Cathaoirleach Peter Roche.

The building which has been in operation since last November was converted from the old Mercy Convent and Church which was bought by Galway county council almost a decade ago.

County councillor for Ballinasloe, Tim Broderick, described the new library as a breath of fresh air for town. “It’s bringing resources and people into the town to avail of the facilities that are housed within it,” said councillor Broderick.
